The NSCA pioneers school chaplaincy.

The NSCA’s mission is to provide spiritual care in public education to all people, all the time, representing Christ and making a difference that can be felt in our society. What we’re working to accomplish has never been done in US public education, but it has been done in other industries. We recently met with a senior chaplain of the UAW; stay tuned as his testimony will be featured in an upcoming article. The UAW (The United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America) is one of the largest unions in the country, with members represented in almost every sector. They established a chaplain program in the mid-eighties to provide spiritual care to their workers suffering from work-related economic difficulties. UAW leaders recognized that a program was needed to help members adjust through difficult times and avoid personal crises. The results were remarkable, as the UAW chaplaincy program continues strong in 2024.

NSCA endeavors to provide this same compassion and care within school environments. The benefits of chaplains are proven and should no longer be ignored or withheld from our schools. We’re pioneers in this industry and are steadily making headway so that students, teachers, and communities can experience God’s love and find peace. UAW recognized that their workers needed the kind of spiritual care that counseling alone could not fix; we recognize this need, too.

The 2024/2025 school year is right around the corner, and NSCA is ready to deploy more campus chaplains. So far we’ve established eight NSCA-certified chaplains in Texas public schools, and we are excited to announce our plans to expand that number significantly. Thank you for joining us on this journey as fellow pioneers.
