We have attached the following assessment to determine what training level you need to qualify as a certified school chaplain according to the national standards.
Every school chaplain candidate is required to complete this assessment. Please attach all requested documentation to allow the National School Chaplain Association (NSCA) to determine the level of training you need.
1 The certification path:
Level 1: Supplemental training, generally CISM and Active Shooter
Level 2: Eight-week training with Oklahoma Christian University and a class on Truth You for $350
Level 3: One school year of training with Oklahoma Christian University, $10,500
2. Certification as a school chaplain includes:
a. Document of certification
b. Entry in the National School Chaplain Association registry
c. Chaplain ID card with credentials
d. Over the belt/in-the-pocket leather wallet with personalized shield
e. Access to chaplain support app
f. Participation in school chaplain community
g. Access to call center during school hours
3. The NSCA does not hire chaplains, nor is the NSCA a job placement agency. However, job opportunities with schools are posted on the NSCA work board, and the Senior Chaplain Board will work on your behalf to assist in securing employment as a school chaplain.

I acknowledge the NSCA promotes Christian chaplains who provide spiritual care, counseling, and practical community support to PK-12th-grade students, teachers, and their families regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, marital or socioeconomic status.
I acknowledge that trained and certified NSCA chaplains provide counsel, education, advocacy, life improvement skills, and recovery training to create a bridge between the secular and spiritual environments of community life.
